As cases and hospitalizations throughout the region continue to decline, effective 3/11/22, vaccinated people in Berkeley will be able to choose whether to wear masks in those indoor settings where merchants or organizations have not set stricter rules. See the City of Berkeley's news release for additional details.
This updated health order rescinds the requirement for certain businesses, including gyms and places that serve food and drink indoors or hold events with 1,000+ persons indoors, to check proof of full vaccination for all patrons 5 years and older before allowing a patron to enter an indoor portion of the business’ facility. Berkeley will continue to align with state and county on regulations, related to masking and mega events.
As a reminder, masking continues to be strongly recommended for *everyone* indoors, regardless of vaccination status. Merchants, businesses and others continue to be able to set stricter rules.
Visit Berkeley values above all the safety, health and wellness of visitors and our community. We are committed to providing news and updates from official sources about guidelines relating to COVID-19.
