Festive Activities

The Dazzling Holiday Light Celebration on Fourth Street Berkeley kicks off the holiday season in style, illuminating three blocks with sparkling lights and festive cheer. As the sun begins to set, the lights will come on and Fourth Street will fill with family-friendly activities.

• Live Entertainment – Enjoy enchanting performances by local musicians, a life-sized puppeteered snow wolf, a sparkling snow fairy on stilts, and a LED-covered roller-skating elf.
• Seasonal Treats – Warm up with complimentary treats, including Peet’s Coffee, hot cider, Mexican hot chocolate from Tacubaya, and cookies, as you take in the dazzling lights.
• Kid-Friendly Crafts – Let your little unleash their creativity with an exciting art project where they can build their own train using neon and sparkle tape! This hands-on activity is a fun way for families to craft a holiday keepsake during the celebration.

Visitors will be able to enjoy the Fourth Street Christmas lights nightly until February 2026.

• Santa’s Mailbox - Kids can write their letters to Santa and drop it in the big red mailbox outside Peet’s Coffee (1776 Fourth Street) to receive a letter back from Santa’s elves.
• Shops Open Late - In December, participating stores will stay open late, giving you extra time to find the perfect holiday gifts.
• Fused Ornament Workshop with Stained Glass Garden - Create your own fused glass ornament at Stained Glass Garden, then pick it up a week later after it’s fused in the kiln.
• Holiday Extravaganza & Craft Celebration - Take part in a variety of free activities and crafts including wreath making and glitter pine cones, live music, costume characters, and magic shows.
• Caroling with SF Chorus - Sing along with the SF Chorus as they walk Fourth Street on spreading holiday cheer.
• Caroling with The Merrie Olde Christmas Carolers - Enjoy traditional Christmas carols as they’re performed in full costume.
• Fratello Marionette Holiday Show - Watch the whimsical "North Pole Review" puppet show, featuring ice skaters, dancers, and acrobatic penguins.
