Rising star Canadian violinist Blake Pouliot and close collaborator, American pianist Henry Kramer (a recipient of an Avery Fisher Career Grant), perform the West Coast premiere of a newly commissioned work from California composer Jimmy López—a graduate of the UC Berkeley music department whose acclaimed Dreamers oratorio was commissioned and presented by Cal Performances in 2019. The duo also showcases its remarkable musical interplay in Schubert’s Fantasy in C major—a monumental opus from the composer’s last year—and a series of works devoted to the influence of art song on instrumental music.
