Chefs Sylvie Osborne Calierno and Jeremy Scheiblauer met and became fast friends at Chez Panisse 12 years ago. Sylvie left Chez Panisse to open a restaurant in Spain called Toto before returning to Berkeley to raise her twins Salvador and Bella. At the same time Jeremy was executive chef at Heydey in San Francisco before returning to Chez Panisse.
Both Sylvie and Jeremy saw an opportunity after the forty two year old Berkeley staple Juice Bar Collective finally closed it’s doors.
Fava is their attempt to breathe new life into the 2114 Vine st. location by offering the same lunch counter vibe with fresh seasonal ingredients we all love.
