Gilman District

The Gilman District is a newly-designated venue in the northwest corner of Berkeley, set among quaint residences and warehouses. Restaurants and boutiques dot the area, alongside retailers like Soccer Pro, REI, and the famous North Face Berkeley Outlet.  Foodies flock to Whole Foods and delicious upstarts like Funky Elephant and Gilman Brewing Company.  Just around the corner, the East Bay's classic California Highway 123, San Pablo Avenue, keeps commerce and entertainment bumping at venues like Ashkenaz, the music-and-dance space that has been bringing the sounds of the world to Berkeley since the 1970s.
