Community Conversations At The Magnes

This summer The Magnes Collection of Jewish Art and Life will host a series of Community Conversations with Executive Director Hannah Weisman to engage in meaningful dialogue around the museum’s past, present, and future.

“The Magnes originated as a community entity, and part of our charge now is to stay connected with our existing friends while building new relationships across the Bay Area,” reflected Weisman. “We are more successful in helping people make connections and find meaning when they collaborate with us.”

Hosted by Weisman and museum staffers, these casual conversations provide an opportunity for members of the community to meet with new leadership and for the staff of The Magnes to better understand the broad range of memories, perspectives, and ideas the collection inspires.

“These conversations are a wonderful opportunity to honor The Magnes’s deep roots in the community and foster dialogue with the many people who want to see it shine as a vital resource for the Bay Area and beyond.” said UC Berkeley Arts and Humanities Dean Sara Guyer.

Three of the hour-long sessions will focus on engaging public audiences. The last two will bring UC Berkeley faculty, staff, and students together in conversation.
