Kool Keith with DJ Shortkut at The Freight

Kool Keith is a pioneering hip-hop innovator whose boundary-pushing lyricism and style have expanded rap’s creative possibilities. DJ Shortkut(Invisibl Skratch Piklz) started out in San Francisco in 1987 as a mobile DJ, progressing on to competing in World DJ championships throughout the 90’s, and is now a member of 3 of the most influential DJ crews in history. He will be performing a video mixing DJ set. 

This performance honors our Hip Hop is Folk Music initiative, which seeks to illuminate connections between hip-hop and other folk/roots music traditions.
