“Beacon by the Bay” Shines in Digital, Print Editions

BERKELEY, Calif., April 14, 2025 – Now available from Visit Berkeley, the 2025/2026 Berkeley Destination Guide is the official resource for discovering the best of the city through 120+ pages of travel information and inspiration.

The free Berkeley Destination Guide is presented online for flipbook-style viewing and download, and in an oversized print edition available from Berkeley hotels, select city locations including the Visitor Information Center in Downtown Berkeley, and the Oakland International Airport. Dedicated sections on lodging, dining, local libations, arts/culture and UC Berkeley portray the city with passion and purpose.

New and notable: a Welcome to Berkeley letter from Mayor Adena Ishii; an ode to Berkeley penned by UC Berkeley Chancellor Rich Lyons; a feature story on Berkeley's first people, the Ohlone; and a historical timeline feature with archival photography provided by the Berkeley Historical Society & Museum.

“We wanted to convey the vitality, vibrancy, and delightfully off-beat energy of Berkeley as authentically as possible. As we worked through the publishing process, we all fell a little deeper in love with this amazing city,” said Jeffrey Church, President and CEO of Visit Berkeley. “Berkeley is a beacon of diversity and discovery, and I’m absolutely thrilled to see our destination presented like never before.”

The dining scene is a Berkeley keynote, and the Destination Guide’s “A League of Their Own” spotlights newer Berkeley restaurants led by women chefs – a local legacy forged by such culinary luminaries as Alice Waters of Chez Panisse.

Reflecting the city’s international appeal, the Berkeley Destination Guide is translated into six additional languages, with all editions available for viewing and download from VisitBerkeley.com. An ADA-accessible, SRS version is available online.

Key contributors to the Berkeley Destination Guide include the City of Berkeley’s Civic Arts Program for “Power of Art” feature content, Ciel Creative Space for an updated Berkeley Film section, and the Pacific Center for Human Growth which added heart and soul to the full-page DEI feature. In addition, Visit Berkeley partnered with more than 100 local businesses for “creative space” displays.

Visit Berkeley produced the Berkeley Destination Guide with the award-winning travel guide publisher Wanderlust Content Studio. The voice of the hospitality and tourism industry in Berkeley, Visit Berkeley operates as a 501c(6) private, not for profit, mutual benefit corporation. Formed in 1992, Visit Berkeley is the official Destination Marketing Organization for the city.
