Winterfest
Check back soon for 2025 dates!
Each December, the Redwood Valley Railway turns into a glowing holiday attraction during Winterfest. Ride through the redwoods after dark, surrounded by twinkling lights, colorful ornaments, and the gentle rhythm of the steam engine. You might even spot Father Solstice waving from his own decorated train!
Local Tip: Once the sun sets, temperatures drop and crowds grow, with wait times reaching an hour or more. Dress in warm layers, bring snacks or a small toy to keep kids comfortable and entertained.
Tilden Regional Park is home to plenty of fun, kid-friendly activities. Turn your train ride into a full day exploration of the park by visiting these attractions:
Tilden Park Merry Go Round– Ride this beautifully restored carousel with hand-carved animals. During the holidays, it’s decked out in seasonal decorations that pair perfectly with a Winterfest train ride.
Tilden Park Regional Botanic Garden – Wander among California’s native plants, spot local wildlife, and enjoy a peaceful stroll through the garden.
Lake Anza – In summer, bring kids to the lake to cool off with a refreshing swim.
Tilden Nature Area & LIttle Farm – Meet farm animals and learn about local ecology through interactive programs at the Little Farm and Environmental Education Center (ECC).
