All Aboard the Tilden Park Steam Train

Full steam ahead to one of Berkeley's most charming attractions!

Climb aboard the Tilden Park Steam Train at Redwood Valley Railway and discover one of Berkeley’s most beloved family attractions. Since 1952, these miniature steam-powered locomotives have delighted generations, winding through Tilden Park’s redwoods.

Built by Western Pacific Railroad engineer Erich Thomsen, the railway celebrates the region’s rich railroading heritage. Each 15-minute ride is an exciting adventure through the East Bay hills for kids, parents, and train enthusiasts alike.
