August is when Berkeley's "Bears" start their annual back-to-school migration. UC Berkeley move-in is Tue., Aug. 19 and Wed., Aug. 20; returning student move-in is Sun., Aug. 24; and grad student move in is Mon., Aug. 25. Drop Off & Discover

Parents who have successfully delivered their student's stuff into their shiny new residence deserve a reward -- and do we have a great option: Downtown Berkeley! Just a few blocks from campus is an array of restaurants, shops, and hotels to savor and celebrate this new chapter for you and your Cal Bear.

While you're downtown, check out the Berkeley Visitor Information Center -- your one-stop resource for discovering the best of Berkeley. The VIC is open Monday to Friday, 9 am to 5 pm (closed 1-2 pm for lunch).

UCB Parks Free at AirGarage

After move-in, take advantage of free parking at the AirGarage at 2061 Allston Way in Downtown Berkeley. Park that move-in rig and explore the surrounding line-up of restaurants and shops downtown.

• Upon arrival at the garage, scan the standard "Pay to Park" QR code on any signage to begin your parking session.
• Next, either scan the Validation QR Code below or manually input the physical code UCBMOVEIN to automatically apply the discount to that active session.
• Guests may also just directly scan the Validation QR Code upon arrival, which should both start the parking session and apply the code in one step.
• Important Reminders: To activate free parking session, you must use the code before ending a parking session to ensure the validation is applied correctly.
